When you get to Boiro, the first thing you have to do is go through the streets and squares of the urban center. At the Tourist Office, located in Plaza de Galicia s / n, we provide you with a good map of Boiro so you can get lost among the main streets of the town.

From here you can start your route. The Tourist Office is located in the town hall, in the same urban area of the municipality. Around this are several of the main attractions that we invite you to discover, as is the case of the Parish Church of Santa Baia de Boiro, a typical example of Rural Baroque Art, whose origin dates back to an ancient temple built at the beginning in the Seventeenth Century. This parochial temple knew in the 18th century its enlargement works of greater magnitude. Its Baroque´s Style origins are manifested in stylistic motifs, highlighting the bell tower, inspired by the Clock Tower of the Santiago´s Cathedral. The church is enriched by the sculptural work of masters such as Miguel de Romay, one of the first figures of Galician baroque sculpture, and local artisans and artists such as the Núñez de la Tenencia, authors of numerous sculptural works throughout the region.

Back in the urban center, after the obligatory shopping, we suggest that you go to the Fluvial Walk of the Breiro River, a new pedestrian path, almost 1 km long, which connects the town center with the seafront of Barraña and in which you can enjoy a quiet environment, surrounded by numerous vegetation, as well as a peculiar lake. Along its route you will also find a variety of more than 200 riverside trees, up to six types of plants -some aquatic- and a large herbaceous meadow. It has a recreational area equipped with tables and benches in a shaded area, where you can stop and regain strength.

If you have always been fascinated by the sea, or if you are curious about the activity and life of the shellfishers, on the urban beaches of the municipality, those of Barraña and Barraña - Saltiño, you will be able to experience it in a close way. On these beaches with Blue Flag and whenever the low tide allows, you can contemplate the hand of these women as the clam, cockle or longueirón is extracted. In addition, a 3 km long promenade runs through these two sandy areas, where you will find an interesting sports and leisure infrastructure: biosaludable park, bike path, soccer and beach volleyball fields, training area, playgrounds and several accessible points.

The sea and the mountains discover in the landscape places of great beauty and natural wealth that we help you discover. At the mouth of the main river of Boiro, is one of the most beautiful and peculiar natural places of the area, the Natural Area of the Coroño River Estuary: an area with 50m² of pine forest with tables and grills, nest of books, a multi-adventure park, training box, healthy circuit and 1480m of running track; an ideal place for entertainment and great scenic beauty.

Early in the afternoon we recommend visiting the Archaeological Area of the Castros de Neixón, declared of cultural interest in 2011 and the Archeologic Centre of Barbanza that shelters and keeps in its interior an important part of the recovered remains in the archaeological excavations. The Archaeological Center was the first visitable collection of archaeological and local nature that was created in Galicia. In the Center, through models, panels and reproductions, the context of the most representative archaeological remains of the Barbanza region is explained: from the Neolithic to the Iron Age: tombs and dolmens, rock art and castros.

Castros de Neixón

The interpretation center, which is adapted for people with visual impairment and lower room practicable for people with reduced mobility, is open from Thursday to Sunday, in the morning and in the afternoon.

The maritime promenade of Carragueiros and A Retorta will show you the beauty of these two beaches, which have the distinctive Blue Flag and Q of Quality. Through it you can enjoy of a natural wonder, the Humid Complex and Dunar System of Carragueiros, and travel back in time to the seafaring origins of the village of Cabo de Cruz, thanks to the Senda Litoral de Boiro, a route that forms part of the Network of Blue Trails of Galicia.

Thus, the fishing village, the fish market and the port of Cabo de Cruz are other of the most emblematic places of our town. This small fishing village holds much of Boiro's history. In its port you will discover that the past and the present coexist just as the buoyant fishing port coexists with the old wharf, which is one of the oldest in the estuary, and in which boats have been moored and searched for that review marine history Of Galicia, as they are the xeiteiras boats, the dornas of stop, the balandros, the galleons, the traíñas or the gamelas, among others. The cultivation of the mussel in this area was perhaps the origin of this town. In their fish market, fishermen, sailors, distributors and fishermen come together to get the best seafood of the day.

To end the day, and if you have the camera on hand, you can´t miss the colorful houses of the Ribeira Grande beach promenade. They are so picturesque because the fishermen took advantage of the cans of paint left over after painting their boats to fill their homes with color. It is perhaps the most graphic way to express the fusion between the marine life and the land.
