If you decide to come to Boiro to enjoy a small three-day vacation, we suggest this getaway with which you can visit our most emblematic places.

When you get to Boiro, the first thing you have to do is go through the streets and squares of the urban center. At the Tourist Office, located in Plaza de Galicia s / n, we provide you with a good map of Boiro so you can get lost among the main streets of the town.

You will find the tourist office in Plaza de Galicia, in the town hall, in the same urban area of the municipality, where you can start your route. Around this are several of the main attractions that we invite you to discover, as is the case of the Parish Church of Santa Baia de Boiro, a typical example of Rural Baroque Art, whose origin dates back to an ancient temple built at the beginning in the Seventeenth Century. This parochial temple knew in the 18th century its enlargement works of greater magnitude. Its Baroque´s Style origins are manifested in stylistic motifs, highlighting the bell tower, inspired by the Clock Tower of the Santiago´s Cathedral.

Parish Church of Sta. Baia de Boiro

This church sits next to Camiño Real, or as it is popularly known, Camiño Vello. These were roads of sacramental and commercial type that united Santiago de Compostela with the other localities. At its sides, the population settled forming different villas that still retain the same characteristics: narrow streets, tall houses with balconies and large portals.

Also in one of these streets, the pedestrian, is the Local Market, a unique opportunity for you to know the most ingrained traditions of our locality; our trades and customs. A space that, from Monday to Saturday, opens its doors showing the richness of our land and our sea and giving you the opportunity to mix with our people. Immerse yourself in our local idiosyncrasy by approaching this fertile and bustling commercial space, where you can buy the freshest fish from the estuary, the best meats or the wonderful fruits, vegetables and vegetables grown in the gardens of our municipality.

Except on Sundays, it opens every day in the morning from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from Monday to Friday in the evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Once you leave the urban area, you can choose between two alternatives. The first option is to head towards at the Natural Area of the Coroño River Estuary: an area with 50m² of pine forest with tables and grills, nest of books, a multi-adventure park, training box, healthy circuit and 1480m of running track; an ideal place for entertainment and great scenic beauty.

During the last afternoon in Boiro we suggest you go to one of the best preserved natural corners, the “Cadarnoxo Waterfall”, one of the largest in Galicia. For thousands of years, the river pierced the rocks to form the waterfall, as we see it today, in all its splendor. Throughout its fall of more than 30 meters, the water that hits the rocks will awaken your senses. In winter this stream has great flow, so do not get too close if you do not want to get wet. Thanks to the respect of the neighbors for their beauty, this natural enclave remains almost virgin.

The visit to the recreation area of San Ramón de Bealo is also recommended. In this place, every August 31, and for more than 260 years, a pilgrimage dedicated to San Ramón, patron of the parturients, has been celebrated. The party has the declaration of Tourist Interest of Galicia. The esplanade where the pilgrimage is celebrated is a place of celebrations from time immemorial. A few meters from the hermitage of San Ramón are the petroglyphs of Laxe da Serpe and Laxe do Agoeiro. One of these engravings is serpent-shaped, a symbol of fertility thousands of years ago. That is why, every year, dozens of women ask San Ramón a son. If you visit this enclave on August 31, you will see that there is a fusion of Catholic tradition with the spirit of the ancient pagan cults.
